Clodagh and Eugene began their journey in the vibrant summer of 2016, at a local party. “Early into our relationship, we went travelling to Brazil and Colombia,” remembers Clodagh. “We had an incredible time together and moved in together when we got home. We haven’t left each other’s side since!”

After getting engaged, planning the wedding involved a couple of trips to Portugal. “We made a visit to the Lisbon area in December 2022 to start looking at venues but came home without finding any that suited us,” remembers Clodagh.

They returned to Portugal in late January 2023, which is when they visited Quinta de Sant’Ana, a working farm and family-run vineyard, complete with an ochre-coloured manor house with ivy-covered walls and lush gardens.

“Even in the rain, we loved the venue,” recalls Clodagh. “Once we made the venue decision, everything else started to fall into place.”

Quinta de Sant’Ana does all of its own catering on-site, and also produces its own wine in its vineyards and grows all of its own wedding flowers. “Having everything under one roof made things a lot less stressful for us.”

The highlight of the couple’s day? “Walking through the town from the church to the wedding venue after just being married, with all of our closest friends and family behind us,” says Clodagh. “We also loved the brass band that played throughout the reception.”
