Spring has sort-of sprung, and Galway’s cultural calendar is blooming.

Fresh from their Michelin wins – the sommelier award for the UK and Ireland, and a Bib Gourmand award – Zsolt Lukács and Edel McMahon-Lukács of Daróg wine bar aren’t standing still. March sees their six-part wine event series continue with Jacky Barthelmé of Domaine Albert Mann this Wednesday, March 5th.

The winemaker will guide guests through five exceptional wines from his family's organic and biodynamic estate, sharing insights into their sustainable viticulture practices, and their reputation for producing some of Alsace’s finest Rieslings and Pinot Noirs. Tickets are €30, and include a curated wine flight.

Outset "Next Wave" graduate show

You have until March 16th to make it to Outset Gallery for its "Next Wave" graduate show. Featuring eight promising graduates selected from Ireland's art colleges, this diverse exhibition showcases painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography. All works are available for purchase, offering an opportunity to acquire pieces from emerging talents. Participating artists include: Lisa Banim, Elaine Whelan, Matthew Coll, Morgan Connolly, Ava Lowry, Patryk Gizicki, Siofra Egan, and Hannah Daly.

Druid’s national tour of Three Short Comedies by Seán O'Casey

Tickets for the final performances of Druid’s national tour of Three Short Comedies by Seán O'Casey are reportedly selling fast. Directed by Garry Hynes and starring Druid ensemble members Marie Mullen, Rory Nolan, and Marty Rea, the show has received four-star reviews from The Irish Times, while The Guardian praises its "brilliant comic timing". Don’t miss performances from March 25th to 29th at Town Hall Theatre. Tickets from €24.

Neil Ó Lochlainn's "Immram" at Pot Duggans in Ennistymon

A little farther afield is musician and composer Neil Ó Lochlainn's "Immram" at Pot Duggans in Ennistymon on Friday, March 7th. A unique 90-minute musical journey through poet Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill's work, expect a unique blend of traditional Irish music, sean-nós song and jazz with classical influences. Alongside Neil on double bass and flute, will be vocalist Eithne Ni Chatháin (Inni-K) with Lucia Mac Partlin on the fiddle, and Eilís Lavelle playing the harp. General admission is €15.

Corofin Dramatic Society bring their interpretation of The Weir to Claregalway on St Patrick’s Day, and to Glenamaddy on March 22nd.
