Known for her minimalist yet chic style, Orlaith Melia has grown into a successful Manchester-based designer and fashion influencer with a dedicated following of over 170,000 on Instagram.

How would you describe your personal style?

Simple, chic, and effortless. I swear by being underdressed over overdressed – comfort is key for me.

Is there a piece of fashion that had a big impact on your life?

A vintage Burberry coat my mother inherited that has sentimental value – it was one of the first pieces I styled as an influencer, which led me to work with the brand. It definitely was a real pinch-me moment!

Pure by Imagicasa

What book inspires you?

Pure by Imagicasa. I love architecture and its emphasis on simple design has influenced my aesthetic.

What do you take with you when leaving the house?

A spray of perfume (Santal33 by Le Labo), my jewellery, phone, keys, and a lip balm.

What’s on your personal wish list?

I only have one thing on my wish list, and those that know me personally will know what it is immediately – a corgi!

Is there anyone whose style you admire?

Living in New York and Stockholm, the people I saw every day on the streets inspired my personal style. Although my style is minimal and pared back, I enjoy seeing those with a bold sense of style. One of my friends is obsessed with wearing head-to-toe leopard print, and it’s my favourite thing ever!

What's beside your bed?

A few favourite books, a silk eye mask and my diary for jotting down thoughts before bedtime.

I recently bought a new-to-me Colleen Hoover book, Maybe Someday. I couldn't put it down. I've read over 15 of her books in the last year, and every time I finish one, I end up buying more.

Sheridan's Wine Bar

What do you always look forward to doing when returning to Galway?

I love being at home with my family dog in the countryside. On weekends, I like going to the Galway market with my mom, followed by a visit to Sheridan’s Wine Bar for a cheese board.

How did growing up in the west inspire your style?

I’ve learned that dressing for comfort and the weather is key – always carry an umbrella!
